This is the third “Goa ENGINEWS” issue of the year 2017 being published on the occasion of “World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD 2017)” today i.e. 17/05/2017. We are now in the full speed, geared to take up more & more responsibilities.

We have successfully organized the “World Water Day 2017” jointly with ‘Indian Water Works Association, Goa Centre’ on 22nd March, 2017. It was a success story with over 141 entries received from 40 schools for All Goa Drawing Competition. Similarly 14 entries received from 7 Engineering Institutions. My hearty congratulations to the winners. On this occasion our past chairman Er. S.T. Nadkarni was felicitated for his outstanding contribution in the field of water sector.

The Technical Seminar “Advantages of PT over RCC structures” organized at Hotel Fidalgo on 15th April, 2017 received an overwhelming response. The presentation by Prof. Gadgil was very much informative & knowledgeable. Full marks to our Convenor from Civil Engineering Division Er. Chandrashekhar Prabhudessai. The National Conference “Challenges in Environment Management Mines and Industries” on 20th-21st April, 2017 was a joint Venture with Goa College of Engineering, Farmagudi which was also a grand success.

The preparations of 25th IEI Convocation & Technicians & Students chapter Seminar & Convention on the topic ‘Role of Engineers towards skill India Mission’ on 28th & 29th October are underway. Venue at Kala Academy is already finalized. Brochures will be printed by HQ and would be circulated shortly for getting Sponsors and delegates. All corporate members irrespective of their Division are invited to share their responsibility and make the programme success. An Organizing Committee is already appointed with Er. Chandrasheker Prabhudessai as Organizing Secretary.

I would like to share with you that recently, I have taken over the new assignment of Hon. Secretary General of Indian Water Works Association (IWWA) at Mumbai w.e.f. 01/04/2017 to 31/03/2019. IWWA is a voluntary body of 12,000 Professionals concerned and connected with Water Supply for Municipal (drinking), Industrial, Agricultural uses and treatment & disposal of Waste Water. IWWA focuses basically on the entire water cycle encompassing the environmental, social, institutional & financing issues. We have added a number of books to the library including the latest National Building Code of India, 2016 Edition. All Members may refer the books available in IEI Library.

I appeal to all Members & Colleagues to take up membership drive. With your kind support I am quite sure that by next March 2018, we should be able to cross the mark of 1300 Members.I am fully confident that the Goa State Centre is embracing for bright future and I look forward to continued support of all to assist us in our endeavour to make Goa State Centre achieve greater heights.
